It looks like 2010 will end with Jersey Shore diva Snooki dropping out of a ball after all — just not in Times Square.

MTV spins off Jersey Shore's Pauly D for new series

The co-producers of Times Square New Year's Eve nixed the idea, saying it "came too late and was too impractical to fit in to our outdoor events," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

But that's not stopping MTV or Snooki from moving forward with the stunt in a new location: Jersey Shore's own Seaside Heights, N.J., a network rep tells TVGuide.com.

"Like the ball that drops in Times Square, there's going to be a Snooki ball," borough clerk Diane Stabley told The Associated Press. She also added that an MTV network crew was in town to pre-tape the spectacle Thursday night.

"We love our Times Square home," MTV said in a statement, "And while we're disappointed there won't be a Snooki ball drop there, she cannot be denied!"

The Snooki ball was originally requested for a set-back roof in Times Square, separate from the official New Year's ball.

The remainder of MTV's 90-minute New Year's Bash 2011 special will air live from the network's Times Square studios, with other Jersey cast members leading the crowd in a massive fist-pumping demonstration to attempt to break a Guinness world record.
