The Simpsons Will Continue to Shatter Records With Two More Seasons

Homer Simpson isn't done eating donuts just yet: The Simpsons has been renewed.

Fox has announced that Matt Groening's animated comedy favorite will forge on for another two seasons -- which means by the time Seasons 31 and 32 have aired, the show will have clocked in at a cool 713 episodes. The series, which is averaging 4.8 million viewers a week in its 30th season, shows no signs of slowing down.

"Woo hoo! 32 Seasons! Watch your back, Meet the Press," said Homer Simpson in a Fox press release.

The Simpsons is the longest-running primetime scripted show in television history. Since it first launched at the tail end of 1989, it has become one of the most beloved animated comedy vehicles on air. The show outpaces the second-longest-running scripted series by a mile -- Gunsmoke, Law & OrderandLaw & Order: Special Victims Unit trail behind at 20 seasons each. The Simpsons also recently broke the record for most scripted series episodes as well, outpacing Gunsmoke's previous record of 635 episodes.

Guest voices in the remainder of Season 30 will include Awkwafina, Judy Bloom, Ken Burns, Nicole Byer, Guillermo del Toro, Will Forte, Ken Jeong, John Lithgow, Dave Matthews and J.K. Simmons.

The Simpsons airs Sundays at 9/8c on Fox.
