Showtime has picked up three pilots, including a docu-comedy, a book adaptation and a drama from Southland creator Ann Biderman, Deadline reports.

Gurland On Gurland documents filmmaker Andrew Gurland (The Last Exorcism) as he pursues the next phase of his career. He will also write and direct the project.

Masters of Sex is an adaptation of the Thomas Maier book Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, the Couple Who Taught America How to Love. The pilot follows the relationship between the real-life researchers who were pioneers in the field of human sexuality. Michelle Ashford (The Pacific) wrote the script and will serve as executive producer with Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly, whose company Timberman/Beverly Prods produces FX's Justified and the upcoming CBS show A Gifted Man.

Ray Donovan is a family drama about the titular character who's a fixer for the rich and famous in Los Angeles. At home, Ray can't get away from his troubled Irish family. The project comes from Biderman who will be an executive producer along with Mark Gordon (Criminal Minds). John Wells and Chris Chulack will work as showrunners.

This is the second round of pilots given the green light by Showtime. Homeland and House of Lies, which both became series, will debut later this year.
