The View The View

ABC's The View may be going for a new look in the wake of Barbara Walters' retirement. Sherri Shepherd is leaving the chat show, with more departures possibly coming soon.

Shepherd is departing the long-running daytime show after seven seasons of serving as co-host, because ABC and Shepherd's people could not reach an agreement on a new contract, Deadline reports.

"It's been seven wonderful years on The View and after consideration it is time for me to move on," Shepherd said in a released statement. "I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Gedde (sic) for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to myView family and fans for supporting me on this journey."

But Shepherd may just be the first to go. According to TMZThe View is cleaning house and also firing co-hostJenny McCarthy, leaving only Whoopi Goldberg remaining after Barbara Walters' retirement last month. Executive producer Bill Geddie is also allegedly on the chopping block.

McCarthy hinted on Twitter that she was leaving as well. "If Sherri goes... I go too. #sisters," she Tweeted. She followed that up with, "My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year."

The news comes the day before Walters is scheduled to return to The View as a guest host in order to promoteher interview with the father of Elliot Rodger, the young man who went on a shooting spree in Santa Barbara.

What do you think of this shakeup, and who would you like to see replace Shepherd and McCarthy?
