Last Dance: Bella Thorne and Zendaya Say Goodbye to Shake It Up

It's a Disney disaster! Shake It Up is heading into its series finale, and fans are about to witness even more trouble than the show's end. In the final episode (airing Sunday, Nov. 10 at 9/8c), CeCe (Bella Thorne) suffers from amnesia during a Shake It Up Chicago charity fashion show that is set to star her, Rocky (Zendaya) and Tinka (Caroline Sunshine) as runway models. CeCe suffers from memory loss, and Rocky does everything she can do to help her best friend remember all of their fun times together — is anyone else predicting a series of flashback clips?

We caught up the dynamic duo, who recapped their own Shake It Up memories from the past three seasons.

TV Guide Magazine: How will the series wrap up for your characters?
Zendaya:
It's a rough episode for Rocky. After CeCe has a serious fall and hits her head, she can't remember who she is, and Rocky struggles with the fact that her best friend can't remember her. She tries to jog her memory by taking her down memory lane throughout the episode.
Bella Thorne:
We are ending in the same way we started — as best friends. There are no major developments or future hints of what CeCe may or may not do, but it has some closure, as to our friendship.

TV Guide Magazine: What was it like shooting the final episode?
Zendaya:
At the time, we didn't know it was the series finale, even though we kind of had an idea. Looking back on it, it was actually a great episode to shoot and we had a wonderful time.
Bella:
We didn't know it was going to be the end of the series so we didn't have the whole big goodbye or real wrap party. We were thinking we'd be back, however the title of the episode ["Remember Me"] and the song made me feel that this was it.

TV Guide Magazine: How did you originally get cast in the show?
Zendaya:
When Bella and I tested together, we had instant chemistry. I even blew a line during the test, but we just hit it off so well in front of those cameras. It was meant to be! I love Bella so much and I'm so thankful that we were put in each other's lives.
Bella:
It was a long process. The role was for someone [aged] 14 to16 and I was 12. I remember telling them that whatever a 14- or 16-year-old could do, I could do. I got the part!

TV Guide Magazine: What is your all-time favorite episode of Shake It Up?
Zendaya:
I always go back to the episode where Rocky went crazy for Justin Starr (Chris Trousdale). It was the first time she really showed her out-of-control side.
Bella:
For me, the dyslexia episode will always be memorable because I shared my learning disability with the world. I let everyone in on something that I had been struggling with everyday. Being on Shake It Up and reading scripts everyday helped me excel in reading, and I feel really strong about my ability now.

TV Guide Magazine: What will you miss most about the show?
Zendaya:
The cast, the crew and every single person involved in our show were absolutely the greatest. I still keep in touch with so many of the people involved because we made lifelong relationships, though, I will miss the fun we had everyday on our set.
Bella:
I will mostly miss the cast and crew. We had a beautiful journey. I pretty much grew up on the channel — I was 12 when I booked the show so becoming a teenager and going through the awkward phase happened with them.

TV Guide Magazine: What is the biggest change in your life since being cast in Shake It Up?
Zendaya:
My fan base changed so much after being on DWTS! Not only do I have the little kids, but I have their mothers and their mother's mothers too!
Bella:
I don't really think my life has changed all too much besides the fact that millions of people know who I am and support me. My routines and work ethic are still the same. My friends are still the same. I just get asked for pictures and autographs, and get really lovely letters and social media responses from super cool people I have yet to meet.

TV Guide Magazine: What's next for you?
Zendaya:
I shot a Disney Channel movie over the summer so you will see that sometime next year. It's called Zapped! I am really proud of it.
Bella:
I'm not currently working on any TV projects, but I do have a few films coming out next year. I've been blessed to have had the opportunity to work with people I admire like Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore in Familymoon, and Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner in Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

TV Guide Magazine: Do you want to continue to stay in the Disney family or do you want to shift your career toward older projects?
Zendaya:
Once you are a part of Disney, you are always in the family so I will always be a part of them. Of course, I want to branch out and do other things, but you just never know what the future holds.
Bella:
Disney gave me the biggest break in my life. They opened so many doors for me that I will always be thankful for. I'm open to guest star and film work, but I think they've got it covered with the new incredible talent coming up on the channel. I will be keeping an eye on the great new shows coming out!

TV Guide Magazine: Are you interested in reality TV?
Zendaya:
DWTS was the most stressful thing I have ever done so I would say no right now, but you know how people say, "Never say never!"
Bella:
I wouldn't want to participate on DWTS! I realize that DWTS takes a lot of time and dedication, and the talent that is represented is serious and ambitious. I need to dedicate my time to my craft so that I can make a successful transition from Disney Channel to feature films without disappointing my fan base.

TV Guide Magazine: Will you two work together again on any future projects?
Zendaya:
I sure hope so! I love Bella and we love working together.
Bella:
You never know. I'd always welcome the chance to work with Zendaya or any of my former cast members again. Both of us will be in the business for a long time to come so I think it's a good possibility!
