The Reading Rainbow Kickstarter just got a little bit brighter, thanks to Seth MacFarlane.

With five days left in its fundraising campaign, the Family Guy star has pledged to match the remaining donations up to $1 million. "The money that Seth has pledged is for schools," Reading Rainbow host LeVar Burton explained in a video. "Every dollar we're raising right now gives us the ability to give the Reading Rainbow product away to schools in need."

The best summer movies of all time

The Reading Rainbow Kickstarter's initial goal was $1 million, but after quickly surpassing the total, Burton aimed to raise $5 million to expand the product's reach and availability. As of Fridaymorning, more than $4 million has been pledged to revive the children's literacy program.

Reading Rainbow aired on public television from 1983 through 2006 and was re-launched as a tablet app in 2012. Burton plans to create a version specifically for schools, which will be made available for free for up to 12,500 classrooms in need with MacFarlane's help.
