Sense 8 Series Finale: Who Lived, Who Died and Who Got Married?

One near miss scared us to death!

Sense8 wrapped up its regrettably short run on Netflix today with a special 2-hour series finale, but you're nuts if you think everyone made it out of this thing alive.

After successfully rescuing Woflgang (Max Riemelt) from BPO, the cluster found themselves with only one thing left to do: Destroy the organization that would forever hunt them and their kind. In order to take BPO down though, they had to pair up with a secret network of sensates they'd just barely begun to understand last season called The Lacuna.

The first (and most obvious) casualty of this finale was the evil mastermind behind the whole mess, Whispers (Terrence Mann). Since the show's inception, Whispers has obviously been slated as the Big Bad, even within BPO, an organization that he should have been a mere minion in. His reputation as "The Cannibal" plus his tendency to lobotomize other sensates and take control of their bodies meant that there was little chance he would survive this final standoff. The realization that his plan all along was to use the bodies of those lobotomized sensates to live forever ensured that he wouldn't. Quests for immortality almost always seem to end in death, ironically enough.

In the end, his demise was swift and completely unexpected, at the hands of Wolfgang with his weapon of choice -- a rocket launcher. Both Whispers and Lila (Valeria Bilello) were in the helicopter Wolfgang shot down, taking out two villains with one stone.

How a Canceled Show Comes Back From the Dead

Sadly, villains weren't the only ones to perish in this series finale, and the cluster lost a friend turned enemy turned friend again. Jonas (Naveen Andrews) finally revealed that his cooperation with BPO was all in service of Angelica's (Daryl Hannah) endgame to blow up the facility where the zombie sensates were being held, ending Whispers' reign of terror for good. Jonas even managed to take out The Chairman (Stephen Boxer) using one of his own zombies against him.

Jonas' death was heartbreaking, but it was nowhere near as terrible as that terrifying moment we believed Kala (Tina Desai) to be dead during the cluster's assault on Lila's base.

After getting shot in the gut, Kala fell to the ground cradled in Wolfgang's arms, and the two began to exchange their tearful goodbyes. Rajan even made it there in time to watch her "die," making the whole thing convincing enough to be real. Just when Kala seemed to take her last break though, she managed to use her sensate connection to Wolfgang to talk him through saving her life. Phew, talk about a close call! That was a seriously mean thing to do to us Sense8!

After all the danger had passed, the cluster got to settle down and celebrate their victory with Nomi (Jamie Clayton) and Amanita's (Freema Agyeman) wedding in the Eiffel Tower, and one last massive sex scene. The most surprising part of that orgy wasn't even the orgy -- this is Sense8, we know what we're getting into. It was the fact that Kala and Wolfgang decided that rather than running away together, they'd just invite Rajan (Purab Kohli) into their relationship as a third member and threesome partner. Wait, what?

Love is love is love, we guess!
