As we get closer to the premiere of MTV's Scream, a key question remains: How different will the show be from the movie?
"It's newer and sexier, but it's still scary," star Bella Thorne tells TVGuide.com. "We took the best parts of the franchise and we have these famous scenes from the movie that everyone knows, but we do them in a different way."
That includes the opening scene, during which Thorne has a short-lived cameo similar to that of Drew Barrymore in the original film. So, who's taking over the duties of Neve Campbell's Sidney in the reboot? While there isn't a one-to-one comparison for every character, Willa Fitzgerald steps into the heroine role as Emma Duvall, the level-headed one of the group who ends up the target of the killer.
While Emma's backstory is different, it is, like Sidney's, heavily influenced by her mother. Another similarity? Emma's boyfriend also sucks! (Spoiler alert: He's kind of a cheater.) But will he turn out to be the killer like Sidney's beau?
Scream premieres Tuesday, June 30 at 10/9c.
