And we thought Scandal would have a hard time topping the intrigue of its Season 1 finale!

Thursday's season-ender put the first season's to shame with several jaw-dropping reveals, mostly coming in the episode's final moments. Before we get there, let's talk about what happened leading up to those moments.

Scandal Shocker: The Mole speaks out!

After Team Defiance — Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) included! — meets up to discuss its Billy (Matt Letscher) problem, Olivia (Kerry Washington) discovers that Billy has been working with Governor Reston (Tom Amandes), who hates Fitz and blames him for his life being ruined after the election was rigged. When Cyrus (Jeff Perry) learns the news, he has a heart attack. Yikes! But at least that leads to a reconciliation between him and James (Dan Bucatinsky). Whew!

Meanwhile, Reston meets with Fitz and essentially blackmails him in order to get a spot on his re-election ticket by threatening to go public with the election-rigging information. But there's a slight snag: David (Josh Malina) is hesitant to give Billy the Cytron card that will prove Defiance is real (aww, he does care about the gladiators!), but begrudgingly does so.

Fitz tells Mellie (Bellamy Young) he plans to divorce her and run for re-election with Olivia by his side. He further threaten that if Mellie reveals Olivia as his mistress, it will become an issue of race that looks bad for the First Lady. But Olivia finds herself in another kind of danger when an assailant comes to her apartment to kill her. Fortunately, Jake (Scott Foley) saves her, even though that goes against his B613 orders of staying away from Olivia.

Scandal Finale Scoop: What's the fallout from Fitz's decision?

Huck (Guillermo Diaz) and Quinn (Katie Lowes) track down Billy in order to get the Cytron card back. But Huck has a total freak-out and can't torture him, so Quinn steps in and goes nuts. But the card David handed over was a fake. David brings the real card to Cyrus, who destroys the card after giving David a promotion to USDA.

After Billy is arrested, it seems all is well — but it's not. Jake is thrown into the special B613 box that Huck once called home. Olivia, who finds out that Fitz killed Verna (Debra Mooney), tells POTUS to go back to Mellie and run his election with her. And the biggest scandal of them all? Someone has revealed who Fitz's mistress is! As Olivia heads out for a run, everyone looks on at the First Mistress before two men pull her into a car with Rowan (Joe Morton), the head of B613... who also happens to be Olivia's father. Dun. Dun. Dunnnn.

Did you see the daddy reveal coming? Are you sad Olivia and Fitz didn't work out? How kickass was Quinn? Hit the comments!
