It looks like the return of Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) could signal some romance for Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) this season on Scandal.

Of course creator Shonda Rhimes wouldn't leave the dashing Naval officer rotting in a dank hole — where he ended last season — for long. "It's always good to have Scott Foley around," Rhimes says at a party for the ABC show held to celebrate the Scandal-themed windows at New York's Saks Fifth Avenue. Will a renewed relationship between Jake and Olivia be used to make her true love, President Grant (Tony Goldwyn), jealous? "Yes, exactly," Rhimes says. "It's nice to have a love triangle going on."

Foley, upped to a series regular, is psyched for such a storyline. "Jake is going to give the President a run for his money. I was a fan of the show before I was on it, and I love Olivia and the President together. It's such an interesting and complex relationship, but we've got to stir things up a bit," he says. "The fans truly believe they are meant for each other, and they're opposed to anything getting in between them. But I think you should piss some people off sometimes."

Scandal airs Thursdays at 10/9c on ABC.
