They're taking over for Kevin Spacey
For the first time since 2015, the Tonys will have two hosts.
Waitress star Sara Bareilles and The Great Comet star Josh Groban will co-host the 72nd Annual Tony Awards on June 10, CBS announced Wednesday.
This will be both Bareilles' and Groban's first time hosting Broadway's biggest awards show. They each starred in Broadway shows last year -- Bareilles in Waitress, for which she received a Tony nomination for Best Score, and Groban in Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, for which he was nominated for Best Actor in a Musical. More recently, Bareilles starred in NBC's live Jesus Christ Superstar musical. They're also well-known for their non-Broadway musical output.
Bareilles and Groban will be taking over hosting duties from disgraced actor Kevin Spacey, who was the subject of multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, assault and harassment. The last time the Tonys had co-hosts was in 2015, when Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming hosted.
They announced their hosting gig in a video posted to CBS' Instagram.
Nominees for the 2018 Tony Awards will be announced live Tuesday, May 1 on CBS This Morning by Hamilton's Leslie Odom, Jr. and Katharine McPhee, who took over the lead role in Waitress from Bareilles.
The 72nd Annual Tony Awards will live from Radio City Music Hall in New York on Sunday, June 10 at 8/7c on CBS.
