Sante Fe police Lt. Andre Dobyns said a local restaurant's security called the police at approximately 7:45 p.m. to report an intoxicated driver attempted to leave in a pickup with the emergency brake engaged. "Our officer could smell alcohol on his breath, and he had bloodshot, watery eyes," Dobyns said.
Shepard told police he had two tequila drinks and was planning to drive home, but refused to take a breathalyzer test. He did take a field sobriety test, which he failed. The Right Stuff andBloodline actor was arrested on a charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated and was released Tuesday afternoon after posting bail.
This is not the first time Shepard has been arrested on drunk driving charges. In 2009, he was arrested on charges of speeding and drunken driving in Normal, Ill. with a blood-alcohol level twice the legal limit.
