Qué lástima!

Univision has cancelled Sábado Gigante, a Spanish-language weekly variety show, after 53 years on the air, the Miami Herald reports.

Must-watch finales: The scoop on how your favorite show ends this season

Sábado Gigante -- literally "Gigantic Saturday" -- mixes talent shows, sketch comedy, beauty pageants, and dance contests in a three-hour block every weekend.

The show has been hosted for its entire run by Chilean actor Mario Kreutzberger, using the name Don Francisco. It is Univision's longest-running program and the longest-running variety show in television history.

Its impressive run will come to an end on September 19, according to an announcement by Univision on Friday. They declined to comment as to why the show is ending.

According to the Miami Herald, Sábado Gigante garners 2.9 million viewers each week, and has about 100 million viewers overall in 40 countries. The show has run for 2,600 consecutive weeks without a single rerun.
