For the first time ever, Oprah Winfrey conducts an interview inside her lavish Montecito, California, estate in celebration of the 35th anniversary of Roots, the 1977 Emmy-winning ABC miniseries that exposed the horrors of slavery and triumphs of its survivors.

"Over the years the cast has dwindled," shares Cicely Tyson, who appears in the OWN special (premiering Monday, Jan. 16) alongside costars Leslie Uggams, LeVar Burton, John Amos, Louis Gossett Jr. and Ben Vereen. "But I was grateful that many of us are still here to account for this spectacular event. What Oprah is doing should be commended because Roots meant so much to people all over the world."
