Rob Lowe to Write Memoir, Produce Reality TV

Rob Lowe will write about being an actor and father in an upcoming memoir titled "Stories I Only Tell My Friends." The book, announced by publisher Henry Holt and Company, is set for a May 2011 release. Rob Lowe will write about being an actor and father in an upcoming memoir titled "Stories I Only Tell My Friends."

The book, announced by publisher Henry Holt and Company, is set for a May 2011 release. Holt president Stephen Rubin described the project as "a mid-career meditation on his four decades as an actor."

According to a release, Lowe, 46, will reflect on his transition from teen idol to movie and TV star, and open up about his family, fatherhood, and sobriety. Holt acquired the actor's memoir as a submission in fall 2009 but waited to announce the news until a few chapters were completed.

Elsewhere, Lowe is also teaming with production company 44 Blue on a reality show project called Potomac Fever, Washington Postreports. Following the trend of Washington D.C.-set reality programming like Top Chef and Real Housewives of D.C., Potomacwill feature young residents trying to make it in the city.

Lowe became famous in the '80s following his roles in The Outsiders and St. Elmo's Fire. He most recently starred on the ABC's Brothers and Sisters and NBC's Parks and Recreation.
