Rob Lowe, Rashida Jones Leaving Parks and Rec

Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones are leaving Parks and Recreation, TVGuide.com has confirmed. "The news about Rob and Rashida is true -- they will be leaving the show after the 13th episode of the upcoming season six," executive producer Mike Schur said in a statement. "We've been working on their storyline (on and off) for four seasons now, and heading into this year, with the two of them contemplating parenthood, it felt like a natural time to move them into the next phase."

NBC at TCAs: All the latest news

Chris (Lowe) and Ann (Jones) decided in the Season 5 finale that they were going to keep trying to have a baby. "[Ann] still very much wants to get pregnant," Schur recently told TVGuide.com, "so that's going to be a big story for her, about whether or not that can happen, when and how soon, etc."

Jones, who has been a fixture on the series since its debut, most recently co-starred with Andy Samberg in the film Celeste and Jesse Forever (which she also co-wrote) while Lowe stars in the upcoming NatGeo telepic Killing Kennedy as JFK.

Parks and Rec returns on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 8/7c on NBC.
