The Duke and Duchess of Sussex clearly stan the show
Surprise! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have now revealed the name of their newborn bundle of joy, and while they've chosen not to give the tyke a fancy title (for now), they have given the little boy a moniker to remember: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Royal watchers no doubt guessed that Mountbatten-Windsor, Harry's family name, would be included, and maybe they even saw Harrison (Harry's son, duh) coming. But Archie? Whoever had that on their bingo card must've really been paying attention to that precious moment when Prince George nicknamed himself that just for kicks earlier in the year. Either that, or they've got some sleuthtastic intel on Harry and Meghan's secret Riverdaleobsession.
Fans of The CW series and the Archie Comics upon which it is based are certainly enjoying the fact that there'll be another, possibly also red-headed Archie (played by KJ Apa in the show) running around now. The social media reactions have been a royal treat.
Of course, British tabloids have pointed out that Archie is a simplified version of Archibald, which stands for bravery and boldness, but we'd like to believe the Sussexes truly are offering a grand-scale homage to our bear-fighting pugilist friend from the telly. After all, Meghan knows a thing or two about how the small screen can have a big impact.
Riverdale airs on Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
