The more we learn about the Riverdale spinoff series, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the more we understand why it found a home at Netflix instead of The CW. This show looks super creepy, guys.
Riverdale boss Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shared the first concept art for the new series today on Twitter, and it's a pretty dark look at what's to come. You can just make out the figure of Sabrina among the twisted trees of a eerie looking forest, while a fire rages in the foreground. The image doesn't exactly scream CW (unless you count the failed attempt at The Secret Circle, which had its fair share of creepy witches in it).
Netflix shows are known for taking a harsher, grittier look at their source material, making it the perfect home for an edgier version of Sabrina Spellman than we've seen on screen before. After all, the original comic leaned hard into things like Satanic worship and hardcore witchcraft.
There's no set release date for The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina yet, but the show has already been picked up for two, 10-episodes seasons by Netflix.
