Ricky Gervais will host the Golden Globe Awards for a third time, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced Wednesday.
Ricky Gervais doesn't think he went too far at Golden Globes
The announcement comes as somewhat of a surprise after The Office creator and UK series star delivered a hard-hitting monologue last year that included zingers aimed at Hugh Hefner, Charlie Sheen, the cast of Sex and the City 2and Scientologists. Although many believed he went too far, the three-time Golden Globe winner disagreed. "I think last year I didn't go far enough," he told TVGuide.com after the show. "This year, I went about right. If anyone was offended, then I don't care."
Gervais said in August that NBC had invited him to host a third time, but sounded unsure of whether he would actually say yes. "I am [considering it], but I shouldn't do it," he said. "It's a second encore. Don't do a second encore. I don't think I should do it. What am I going back as?"
