O'Brien was also approached to take part in the network's "Idol Gives Back" special on April 21, an offer that is unrelated to the late-night discussions, according to the report. The "Idol Gives Back" invitation came from American Idol producer 19 Entertainment — not Fox — but O'Brien's exit deal with NBC prevents him from appearing on TV until May 1.
