Super Fun Night had a solid, though not super, debut.
The Rebel Wilson comedy premiered Wednesday to 8.2 million viewers and a 3.2 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic, becoming the season's No. 2 new comedy behind The Crazy Ones. Though it dropped a full point from lead-in Modern Family (10.9 million, 4.2), Super Fun Night had better retention than Suburgatory last year, improving four tenths.

Vote: Which fall premieres won you over? Which flopped?

Fellow newbie Ironside didn't fare as well. The NBC remake pulled in 6.8 million and a 1.4, down five tenths from Chicago Fire's premiere in the slot last year and placed well last behind CSI (9.5 million, 2.1) and Nashville (6 million, 1.9), which were up and down a tenth, respectively. However, Ironside retained nearly all of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit's viewership (6.8 million, 2.0), which fell nearly 30 percent from its season premiere. Revolution (6.8 million, 1.5) opened the night for NBC down three tenths.Elsewhere, The Middle (8.8 million, 2.2) and Back in the Game (7.9 million, 1.8) both dropped a few tenths against Survivor: Blood vs. Water (10 million, 2.6), which improved two-tenths. Criminal Minds (11 million, 2.7) and The X Factor (7.8 million, 2.4) both dipped a tenth.8 p.m.
