Rake failed to hook viewers Thursday.
The Greg Kinnear drama premiered to a modest 7.1 million viewers and a 1.7 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic, losing nearly half of its American Idol (12.1 million, 3.3) lead-in. Rake is slightly down from Glee's post-Idol performance in the slot.

On NBC, Community (3.1 million, 1.1) and Parks and Recreation (3 million, 1.2) were even. Swapping timeslots, The Michael J. Fox Show (2.2 million, 0.7) rose a tenth, while Sean Saves the World (2.6 million, 0.7) dropped a tenth. Parenthood (4.3 million, 1.3) climbed a tenth as well.The Vampire Diaries' 100th episode (2.7 million, 1.1) and Reign (1.8 million, 0.7) were both up a tenth from their last outings.
ABC's The Taste (3.9 million, 1.1) improved two tenths.
