OK, NCIS  can't set a series high every week. Still, the CBS procedural nabbed 20.3 million viewers Tuesday night.

Unlike last week, when its series-high 22.85 million viewers was more than NBC, ABC, Fox and the CW combined at 8/7c, NCIS faced a fresh episode of Glee, which attracted 11.5 million viewers The Fox musical comedy barely edged NCIS in the advertiser-coveted 18-to-49 demographic: a 4.3 rating vs. 4.2.

CBS renews NCIS for Season 9

Glee failed to get much of a boost from its post-Super Bowl XLV airing. It rose just 2 percent compared with its last original episode on Dec. 7.

Also up against NCIS in prime time's first hour, The Biggest Loser: Couples drew 7.9 million on NBC, No Ordinary Family on ABC reeled in 5.2 million people and the CW's One Tree Hill— without the benefit of a big wedding — lured 1.6 million (down from last week's 2.4 million).

At 9/8c, Loser enjoyed its usual second-hour increase in viewers (8.8 million), while Fox's Raising Hope got nearly 6.8 million.

Viewers may have been detoured when it came to the series debut of Traffic Light. After generally getting panned by critics, the relationship comedy drew 4.6 million viewers at 9:30. It did better, though, than its fall (and now fallen) predecessor, Running Wilde.

Also in prime time's middle hour, ABC's V went up slightly, with nearly 5.4 million people tuning in, while the CW's Hellcatslured 1.7 million.

With the usual momentum offered by NCIS, spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles, which followed at 9/8c, pulled in 17.1 million, and The Good Wife garnered 11.8 million at 10/9c.

Against The Good Wife in prime time's final hour, Detroit 1-8-7  outpaced Parenthood (5.6 million vs. 5.2 million).
