The Season 1 ender became the season's highest-rated finale for a new show in the 18-to-49 demo, with a 4.6 rating. Overall, the episode drew 10.9 million viewers. Earlier in the evening on Fox, Hell's Kitchen drew 6.9 million viewers.
Despite Glee's record numbers, ABC still took first place in the demo and total viewers thanks to Game 3 of the National Basketball Association finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics. The game averaged 11.5 million viewers. In addition , a special pregame installment of Jimmy Kimmel Live grabbed 8.1 million viewers and the NBA Countdown special netted 8.9 million viewers.
NBC scored a third-place finish with new episodes of Losing It with Jillian (7.6 million viewers), America's Got Talent — the night's top-rated program with 13 million viewers — and a Law & Order repeat (5.9 million).
On cable, ABC Family's new series Pretty Little Liars kicked off strong, capturing 2.5 million viewers, according to the network. The series was the No. 1 cable program of the evening in the 18-to-49 demo and was the channel's second-most-watched series premiere, behind the launch of Secret Life of the American Teenager in 2008.
