Gossip Girlstar Kelly Rutherford has landed a pivotal recurring role on Quantico.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Rutherford will appear in a multi-episode arc as Laura. As for who Laura is, this is your official SPOILER WARNINGfrom Sunday's episode.
It appears that Serena Van Der Woodsen and Shelby (Johanna Braddy) share a mother. Quantico's latest episode revealed that Shelby's mother Laura (Rutherford) and father Glenn (Kevin Kilner) are still alive and have been conning their daughter out of money.
When Laura and Glenn resurface, their arrival will further complicate Shelby's relationship with Caleb (Graham Rogers), as well as make Caleb's relationship with his own mother (Marcia Cross) more difficult.

But even before Shelby's parents return, Shelby will be struggling with the fact that they're alive at all. "That means 15 years of her life have been a lie, and not only that, that lie was the springboard for her to join the FBI," says showrunner Josh Safran, who previously worked with Rutherford on Gossip Girl. "If everything that pushed you in one direction in your life is not true, then who are you? Forget what they have been doing for 15 years, what has she been doing for 15 years? ... Shelby finds herself on uneven ground in a major way, and it begins to change her."
