Prodigal Son, starring Michael Sheen and The Walking Dead's Tom Payne, will take you inside the mind of a serial killer this fall, and Fox seems to have taken that message literally. TV Guide has your exclusive first look at the key art for the upcoming dark dramedy, and it features Sheen and Payne wrapped around each other like flesh mummy bandages.

As the crime genre has flourished with a litany of critically acclaimed shows like NBC's Hannibal, Netflix's Mindhunter, and Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story, Prodigal Son offers up a fresh take with a darkly comedic tone and a stellar lineup of provocative characters.

Payne stars as Malcolm Bright, a genius criminal psychologist with a deep understanding of how killers think because, believe it or not, murder is in his blood. His father, Dr. Martin Whitly (Sheen), is a notorious serial killer who slaughtered at least 23 people in the '90s. Bright uses his brilliant mind to help the NYPD solve gruesome crimes, though his twisted way of carrying out justice draw parallels to his sociopathic father.

Meanwhile, Sheen channels his inner neurotic serial killer with Whitly, a charming and charismatic predator looking to reconnect with his son. The all-star cast also includes Scandal alum Bellamy Young as Bright's manipulative WASPy mother; The Orville's Halston Sage as his normalish sister Ainsley, a journalist who wants her brother to leave the murder game altogether; Lou Diamond Phillips as seasoned detective Gil Arroyo; The Carmichael Show's Aurora Perrineau; and Billions alum Frank Harts.

Prodigal Son premieres Monday, Sept. 23 at 9/8c on Fox.
