Get ready for more father-son serial killer drama: Prodigal Son has been picked up for a full season. Fox has ordered another nine episodes of the procedural, taking Season 1 up to 22 episodes total. This is the first full-season pickup of the fall 2019 season.

The series premiere of Prodigal Son was the highest-rated new series on any network and helped lead Fox to its first victory on opening night of the broadcast season in 10 years. The series premiere also delivered 8.5 million multi-platform viewers and more than 10 million viewers, including Friday's encore airing.

The Walking Dead's Tom Payne stars in Prodigal Son as Malcolm Bright, a criminal psychologist whose father, Dr. Martin Whitly (Michael Sheen), is a notorious serial killer known as "The Surgeon." Bright's relationship with his father gives him both the baggage and the expertise he needs to solve crimes as a consultant for the NYPD.

Bellamy Young, Ainsley Whitly, Lou Diamond Phillips, Aurora Perrineau, and Frank Harts also star.

Prodigal Son was created by Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver, who executive produce alongside Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.

"Prodigal Son delivers a fantastic crime procedural with a complicated and compelling father-son relationship at its core, thanks to the stellar performances from Tom Payne and Michael Sheen," said Michael Thorn, president of entertainment at Fox Entertainment, in a statement. "The series has razor-sharp writing, cinematic visuals and is an inventive twist on the genre. We want to thank our executive producers, Greg, Sarah, Chris and Sam, Peter Roth and our partners at Warner Bros., and the entire cast and crew. We can't wait to see how this twisted journey continues to unfold."

Prodigal Son airs Mondays at 9/8c on Fox.
