The Possession held onto the top spot at the box office during one of the lowest-grossing box office weekends this year.
In its second week, the horror movie grossed an estimated $9.5 million, according to Box Office Mojo. Lawless took the No. 2 spot with more than $6 million. New release The Words, starring Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana, drew $5 million. Following in fourth place, The Expendables 2earned $4.75 million. Another action film, The Bourne Legacy, took the No. 5 spot with $4 million.
Box office: The Possession wins slow holiday weekend
ParaNorman scared up $3.8 million to take sixth place. At No. 7, The Odd Life of Timothy Greendrummed up $3.6 million in ticket sales.
Rounding out the top 10: The Campaign (No. 8, $3.5 million), The Dark Knight Rises (No. 9, $3.2 million) and 2016 Obama's America (No. 10, $3.2 million).
