Pokémon Cosplayers Sing the Pokémon Theme Song

Pokémon cosplayers at New York Comic Con put their money where their mouth is

Liam Mathews

A little bit of background: TVGuide.com was at New York Comic Con shooting our video "Who Said It: Stranger Things or Keeping Up With the Kardashians?" We were interviewing a man dressed as Ash Ketchem, main character of the Pokémon animated series, when we were interrupted by a Deadpool with a boombox blasting the Pokémon theme song. We took a break from Stranger Things to sing along.

It was so much fun that we sensed an opportunity: What if, instead of letting this weird, spontaneous moment go to waste on the cutting room floor, we made a video where we had Pokémon cosplayers show their fandom and sing the theme song? After all, with the success of the Pokémon Go augmented reality game, there was no shortage of cosplayers at New York Comic Con.

So we wandered around the floor accosting Pikachus and Mistys and even one clever dude dressed as Ash Ketchem vs. The Evil Dead (get it?) and forced them to sing for us.

And now, we present that footage to you.
