Hot on the heels of the acclaimed docuseries Dynasties, BBC America has announced two more awe-inspiring nature documentaries: Frozen Planet II and Planet Earth III.

Frozen Planet II comes 10 years after the original series and will explore the areas of our planet that are still locked in ice and snow. A six-part series, it covers the frozen ocean of the Arctic and ice-locked Antarctica. As BBC America notes, these areas are the last true wildernesses on Earth and the environments are so harsh and so challenging to live in that only the strongest survive. But now the animals who call them home are facing threats as temperatures rise and the frozen areas of our planet are disappearing. The series will follow the scientists who bravely attempt to find answers to what the true impact of these changes will be.

Dynasties Is a Powerful and Necessary New Species of Nature Documentary

Meanwhile, Planet Earth III is the third series in a planned trilogy, and according to BBC America, it is going to be "the most ambitious natural history landmark ever undertaken by the BBC." Coming in 2022, the eight-episode season will use the newest technology to capture the same sort of awe-inspiring footage that captured fans' hearts in Planet Earth and Planet Earth II. And if you loved the drama and tension that unfolded in Dynasties, you'll find that here too, as the crews will spend more time filming in the field than ever before.

Additionally, the new series is planning on reflecting the harsh new realities of the natural world, meaning it will not shy away from highlighting the various challenges that animals and plants around the globe face in Earth's changing natural landscapes.
