Philip Winchester (Strike Back) is the first to join NBC's fourth Chicago series, Chicago Law, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Winchester is the first to be cast for the procedural that was officially announced to be in development last month. There has been no formal pilot order made, but it's likely that Law will follow the tradition of Chicago P.D. and Chicago Medwith a backdoor pilot in one of the existing series. The smart bet would probably be an embed with P.D.

Winchester's casting comes off of the actor's short stint on The Player, NBC's Wesley Snipes' gambling drama that was canceled in its first season. There's no official word on whether Winchester will make an appearance on any of the other Chicago sister series before the Law's launch, though it's a common practice on the Dick Wolf trio for characters to begin on one series before transitioning to a new spinoff.
