NBC's upcoming miniseries The Slap has booked Peter Sarsgaard and Mary-Louise Parker to play two of its critical leads, Deadline reports.
The series, based on the Australian miniseries of the same name, is a thought-provoking family drama that focuses on what happens when a man slaps the child of a couple of friends after the kid misbehaves at a suburban BBQ. The repercussions expose a web of secrets and threaten to tear families apart.
Sarsgaard, who recently starred on The Killing, will play Hector, a husband and father who finds himself tempted by the advances of a younger woman and is the cousin of slapper. Parker, who's best known as the star of Showtime's Weeds, will play Anouk, a friend of Hector's who is a TV writer and dating the young star of the show she works on.
The Slap is slated for an eight-hour run. NBC has not yet announced a premiere date.
