[Warning: The following contains spoilers for the Season 4 premiere of Outlander! Read at your own risk!]
Droughtlander ended early for the Outlander fans lucky enough to be sitting in Madison Square Garden for the show's panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday. The cast and crew screened the first episode of Season 4 — and the new opening credits! — for everyone in the audience, and oh boy, did that unleash the feels.
Season 4 picks up a few months after Jamie (Sam Heughan), Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and their crew were shipwrecked on the coast of Georgia after a hurricane. They've since moved to North Carolina to try and save enough money to make the voyage back to Scotland. But because this is Outlander, though, complications arise — specifically, the star-crossed couple make the acquaintance of the pirate Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speelers).
The episode covered Jamie and Claire's decision to stay in the States, the first love scene of Season 4 and a heartbreaking betrayal that will obviously have consequences for the rest of the season. There was so much in the first episode, and we didn't even see Jacosta (Maria Doyle Kennedy) or Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Rodger (Richard Rankin)!
Reactions from fans in the room are the best way to understand the emotional rollercoaster. Here we go!
WOW!!! #Outlander fans... The Season 4 opener will not disappoint you. I laughed, I cried... Can't wait for everyone to see it, so you can share your thoughts with me! #NYCC @Hollow9ineCast @SidsmomJen @madh4tter404— Jennifer Pamela 9ine (@jennifer9ine) October 6, 2018
