Australian actor David Berry has landed the coveted role of Lord John Grey in Outlander, Starz announced Monday.

Berry, who's best known for starring in the Aussie melodrama A Place to Call Home, will play the former British soldier who finds himself relegated to governing a Scottish prison following a scandal in his past. It is at Ardsmuir Prison that Grey strikes up a complicated friendship with Jamie (Sam Heughan), who will still be reeling from the battle of Culloden and the loss of Claire (Caitriona Balfe).

Fall TV Preview: Where we left off with returning shows

Outlander's third season will pick up immediately after a pregnant Claire traveled through the stones and back to 1948. Separated by centuries, Claire and Jamie will have to find their way back to each other once again.

Outlander will return in 2017, with an exact date yet to be announced.
