After a season of flashforwards, intense politicking, bare-chested men, and the best sex on TV, Outlander's second season will go out with a bang in a special 90-minute finale on Saturday, July 9 at 9/8c on Starz.

The finale, titled "Dragonfly in Amber"--which also happens to be the name of the second book in Diana Gabaldon's bestselling book series upon which the drama is based--is set on the day of the Battle of Culloden and will see Jamie's last ditch attempt to deter the Prince. The world's sexiest history lesson will then jump forward to 1968 and feature the introductions of two new characters: Brianna (Sophie Skelton, Foyle's War) and Roger Wakefield (Richard Rankin, Burnt).

Outlander Season 3 is coming sooner than you think

Fans of the books will recognize Brianna to be the adult daughter of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan), and Roger is the adopted son of the Reverend Wakefield. The two hit it off when Claire travels with Brianna to Scotland to make peace with her incredibly complicated past.

Without giving too much away, it's probably safe to say Brianna's life will never be the same after this family vacation, as Claire intends on telling her daughter the truth about her parentage: that once upon a time her mother touched a rock, traveled through time, fell in love with a hunky Highlander, became pregnant, and then traveled back through time to raise Brianna with Claire's first husband.

Brianna's going to need so much therapy.

If you've missed any of Outlander's second season, Starz will air a marathon of the first 12 episodes beginning Saturday, July 2nd at 12/11c.
