No one looks better in a kilt than Outlander'sJamie Fraser, but getting the star ready for his scenes actually takes quite a bit of skill.

Behind the scenes of our trip to Outlander

During our set visit in Scotland, assistant costume designer Graham Hunter demonstrated how he outfits everyone on the show, complete with pleating the yards of tartan while the actors lie on the ground just as someone would've in the 18th century. As for the kilt being functional, Hunter explains that the fabric lining is waterproof, can be pulled over the head and act as a sleeping bag, and you can create wings on the side to store bread!
