Outcast, the genuinely scary horror series from The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, will return for its long-awaited second season on Cinemax on Wednesday, July 20, the network announced.

The series was renewed for a second season months before Season 1 premiered in the summer of 2016. Season 2 of the Fox International Studios-produced series aired in the U.K. in spring 2017, but it's taken a year for the ten episodes to make it across the pond.

The series stars Patrick Fugit as Kyle Barnes, a troubled young man from the supernaturally-inclined town of Rome, West Virginia who's been plagued by demonic possession his whole life. Along with the help of his friend Rev. John Anderson (Philip Glenister) and his adopted sister Megan Holter (Wrenn Schmidt), Kyle tries to figure out "why me?" and "why here?" while trying to keep the ones he loves safe from otherworldly threats. Other Season 2 cast members include Kate Lyn Sheil, Brent Spiner, David Denman and the late Reg E. Cathey.

The series is based on comic series of the same name by Robert Kirkman and artist Paul Azateca. Chris Black is the showrunner.

Outcast Season 2 premieres Friday, July 20 at 10/9c on Cinemax.
