The bomb squad tested the possible device by shooting it with a water cannon, which caused a loud noise, according to one of the LAPD's official Twitter accounts.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Yucca Ave. and Highland Blvd., several blocks from where the Oscars will take place on Sunday.

Hollywood & Highland, the outdoor mall in which the Dolby Theatre is located, is currently closed while investigations continue.
