A Toronto woman received a big surprise when she attended a taping of The Oprah Winfrey Show Thursday: No, not a new car; she went into labor!
Lori McCrindle, who was 27 weeks pregnant, went into premature labor during a taping when her water broke in the bathroom. Winfrey halted taping and ran off the set while the mother-to-be was loaded into an ambulance and rushed to a Chicago hospital. McCrindle gave birth to a baby boy named Justin less than an hour later. Winfrey discussed the ordeal on her show Friday.
"He was born about 20 minutes after I saw you," McCrindle told Winfrey on Friday. "You helped me through." The new mom, whose son weighed in at just 2 pounds and 13 ounces, said Justin was doing well, but undergoing a lot of tests.
"After all these years, it is not too often we have a first. But yesterday was a doozy," Winfrey said.
