NBC's Bob Costas, who's been battling an eye infection as he covers the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, is taking the night off on Tuesday and will be replaced by Matt Lauer, Costas announced on the Today show Tuesday morning.

Olympics: What to watch on Day 4

The infection, which started in Costas' left eye and is now affecting both of his eyes, has forced Costas to wear glasses on the air. "I was trying to throw a complete game here. But I think we're going to have to go to the bullpen, and I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but you're Mariano Rivera, at least tonight,'' Costas told Lauer over the phone on Today. "Let's hope it's only tonight."
