ABC has apologized for a reporter who tweeted an off-the-record remark by President Barack Obama, in which he called Kanye West a "jackass."
"Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a 'jackass' for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential," tweeted ABC's Terry Moran Monday night. Moran later deleted the tweet — although it can still be found online — and ABC issued a statement to Politico explaining the situation.

News: Kanye rant not staged, TVGuide.com poll says

"In the process of reporting on remarks by President Obama that were made during a CNBC interview, ABC News employees prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview," the statement read. "This was done before our editorial process had been completed. That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again."

CNBC and the White House have not commented on the matter.Since his Sunday-night rant, West has apologized three times for ruining Swift's winning moment: twice on his blog and once on Monday's The Jay Leno Show.
