Daredevil: What to Expect of The Punisher

Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal, Marvel's Daredevil

The best part of Daredevil's second season, the Punisher (Jon Bernthal), is getting his own spin-off, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

The Punisher will be the sixth series to come from the fruitful Marvel and Netflix collaboration. The two companies originally announced a roll-out plan for five shows — the already-premiered Daredevil and Jessica Jones, as well as the upcoming Luke Cage, Iron Fist and ensemble series The Defenders -- but after Bernthal's powerhouse performance in Daredevilas the morally grey vigilante Frank Castle, the companies decided to give Bernthal his own series executive produced by Hannibal's Steve Lightfoot.

As to whether this means Frank will now be added to The Defenders cast, which will feature the stars of the other Marvel-Netflix shows, remains unknown. However, according to sources, The Punisher and The Defenders will film simultaneously, making the likelihood of at least a cameo high.
