Watch the Darkly Funny Trailer for Netflix's Insatiable

Debby Ryan is out for revenge in the new comedy series

Liam Mathews

The trailer for Netflix's young adult dark comedy series Insatiable is here, and it looks like it's going to take things too far... in a good way.

Insatiable is led by former Disney Channel star Debby Ryan, who's making her "not Disney anymore" move (think Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens in Spring Breakers) with this meaner, more mature show. She plays Patty, a high schooler who for years was bullied for her weight. But after having her jaw wired shut for a summer, she comes back to school in the fall newly hot. Everyone who used to treat her badly wants to be her friend now, but Patty hasn't forgotten. She wants revenge.

It looks like it's going to be funny, sexy and violent all at once. Should be fun.

The Walking Dead's Dallas Roberts co-stars as an over-the-top beauty pageant coach. Charmed's Alyssa Milano plays his wife.

The series is created and executive-produced by Dexter's Lauren Gussis, which should give you a sense of the tone this could take. If the series sounds familiar, it's because it was originally set up at The CW, but the network took a pass. That's cool, it was probably a better fit for Netflix anyway.

Insatiable's 12-episode first season premieres Friday, August 10 on Netflix.
