A recent performance of Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway turned interactive when star Neil Patrick Harris became involved in an exchange with a fan.

Midway through Saturday's show, the New York Postreported, a female member of the audience shouted out, "I love you, Neil!"

Staying in character, Harris responded, "Who's Neil? I'm not Neil," according to Gossip Cop. But then he added: "I'm doing something up here, motherf---er," which drew a huge round of applause from the audience.

Harris later clarified that it was merely an improvised moment. "It was all done in good fun, and fully in the context of the show," a rep for Harris told Gossip Cop. "The audience went crazy and it really was a lighthearted moment."
