NCIS: LA creator Shane Brennan is stepping down as showrunner of the long-running spin-off, Deadline reports. He'll be replaced by his No. 2, executive producer R. Scott Gemmill.Brennan, who will remain an executive producer on NCIS: LA, will focus on other projects under a deal with CBS TV Studios, including an event series based on The Expendables that is currently being shopped to networks and digital platforms, as well as an adaptation of an upcoming science fiction book series.Gemmill, who has written more than 30 episodes of NCIS: LA already has some plans for the show's upcoming eighth season. For starters, he told TVGuide.com back in March that viewers will see "a proper proposal" between Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen).NCIS: LA will return in the fall.
