NBC's The Wiz Makes a Mockery Peter Pan's Ratings
But did it surpass The Sound of Music?
NBC's live production of The Wiz dropped a house on the competition, with 11.14 million viewers watching the three-hour production on Thursday night.
According to NBC, The Wiz Live! averaged a 4.4 rating in the adults 18-to-49 demographic, delivering the highest-rated non-sports Thursday for any network in over a year. The musical far exceeded the turnout for last year's Peter Pan Live!, which only scored a 2.4 rating and 9 million viewers. However, The Wiz still barely trailed being the 2013 success of The Sound Of Music Live!, which averaged a 4.6 and 18.6 million viewers.
