A split-second action has consequences that change a family forever in NBC's upcoming miniseries The Slap.
Based on an Australian show of the same name, the eight-episode series begins at a 40th birthday celebration for Hector (Peter Sarsgaard) that erupts into chaos after Hector's cousin Harry (Zachary Quinto) slaps another couple's misbehaving child.
"One single act can have this ripple effect upon everyone else's lives in all these unexpected ways," co-star Uma Thurman says in a first-look promo, exclusive to TVGuide.com.
As the ensuing drama plays out in the courtroom and beyond, family secrets come to light and long-held beliefs are challenged.
