NBC is beefing up its 2012-2013 schedule with two of the most well-known producers on the small screen.

The network has picked up The New Normal, from Glee and American Horror Story boss Ryan Murphy, and Revolution, from Lostand Fringe executive producer J.J. Abrams, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

NBC orders Anne Heche's Save Me to series

The New Normal is a half-hour family comedy about a gay couple (The Hangover's Justin Bartha and The Book of Mormon's Andrew Rannells) and the cash-strapped single mother who becomes their surrogate (Georgia King). Ellen Barkin is set to co-star in the series, co-written by Murphy and Ali Adler (Glee, Chuck)

Revolution, from Abrams, Supernatural's Eric Kripke and Bryan Burk, is a high-octane action drama that follows a group of people struggling to survive and reunite with their loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist. Giancarlo Esposito, Billy Burke, David LyonsTim Guinee, Graham Rogers, Tracy Spiridakos, Andrea Roth, JD Pardo, Zak Orth and Anna Lise Philips will star.
