Although ratings have been down this season — the show's first without Christopher Meloni  and longtime showrunner Neal Baer— a renewal was expected after Mariska Hargitay signed a new deal with Universal TV, which produces SVU, to continue on the show last month.Showrunner Warren Leight, who introduced more personalized storytelling and newbies Danny Pino and Kelli Giddish this season, recently told TVGuide.com that he expected the show to get picked up — and that he's in it for the long haul.
