Fans hoping to see The Munsters back on the small screen will have to wait a little bit longer.

NBC is taking the hourlong pilot, based on the original 1964 TV series, out of contention for the fall 2012 TV schedule to give it extra attention, Variety reports.

NBC picks up Munsters reboot pilot

Recently renamed Mockingbird Lane, the pilot was ordered in November and set to be directed by Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller. Production on the pilot will now take place during the summer, which means the pilot is still in contention for midseason of next year. NBC felt the project needed more time to assemble the right cast and set design, according to the trade paper.

In addition to writer-director Fuller, House executive producer and X-Men director Bryan Singer is executive-producing the pilot.
